Can you translate our outstanding collection into enthusiasm that you convey to our visitors? Then we are looking for you!

ISRIC is a reference and information center for the world's soils. It manages, among other things, the unique World Soil Reference Collection. This collection comprises approximately 1,000 soil profiles, with related sub-collections such as soil samples, from 80 countries and all major soil types worldwide. Through interactive guidance and multimedia, we bring the soil closer to the visitor of the World Soil Museum of ISRIC on the Wageningen Campus. The soil museum collaborates internationally with soil institutions and museums and contributes to a European-funded project (2024-2028) in the field of soil education. As a museum and education officer, you will handle all practical matters in and around the museum. You will work alongside the Head of the World Soil Museum, the Technical Collections Officer, and the Communications Officer.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and partially executing educational activities in the World Soil Museum, including welcoming groups;
  • Contributing to the development of innovative online content in the field of soil education for the museum's media (app, website);
  • Assisting with the digitisation and management of our unique collections;
  • Documenting and improving procedures and protocols;
  • Managing the World Soil Museum's schedule, handling administrative tasks related to museum visits, and scheduling guides for tours;
  • Maintaining contacts with artists for collaboration in exhibitions;
  • Organising events in the museum, such as lectures and themed days;
  • Supporting the management of the soil library;
  • Creating inspiring posts on social media.

Your qualities:

  • You have completed a higher professional education (HBO) degree;
  • You have experience in education and/or public outreach;
  • You work meticulously and task-oriented;
  • You are strong in organisational and communication skills (both oral and written);

  • You have an affinity for soil and landscape;
  • You have a first aid certificate or are willing to obtain one shortly;
  • You have a good command of both Dutch and English;
