Godert worked with  ISRIC from 1992 until 2020, and has been working on land degradation assessments and sustainable land management projects worldwide. Previously he worked in Nepal, Togo and Indonesia a.o. for FAO. He has extensive professional training experience. Since 1992 he is a member of the management group of the World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT) and has been Work Package leader in several large EU -funded SLM projects such as SOWAP, DESIRE, RECARE.

Godert speaks Dutch, English, French, German, and has an elementary command of Nepali and Bahasa Indonesia
