Kooiman
André is an expert in soil and water conservation, climate change, land use planning, geo-information management, and earth observation in international development. He has over 30 years of experience in project management and acquisition, applied research, capacity building and education in Africa, Southeast Asia, Pacific and Eastern Europe and the Netherlands.
André joined ISRIC in August 2020 to build ISRIC’s sustainable land management (SLM) program further, support related projects and networking, and provide input in managing the World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT).
Before joining ISRIC, André worked for a variety of organisations, including GIZ, Mott MacDonald, NASA, UNEP, GIZ, Twente University-ITC, Earth Networks and SNV, on initiatives that were funded by EU, DGIS/RVO, BMZ, USAID, MCC, DFID, World Bank and other.
He is passionate about achieving development impact through improved applications and access to land-, environment- and climate information services.
