Demonstration framework for sustainable national Soil Information System (SIS)
On 24 October 2024, CABI and ISRIC - World Soil Information organised an online demonstration of their new framework for creating a sustainable national Soil Information System (SIS).
The SIS framework, developed with valuable input from national partners in Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, Lesotho, Australia, New Zealand, and the USA, was officially launched in September at the Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.
The framework aims to support the global soil data community in effectively planning and developing new national SISs or enhancing existing SIS plans.
During the 1.5-hour online demonstration, the framework was introduced, and experiences from national partners in Zambia and Ghana were shared. Participants also had the opportunity to provide insights and feedback to help further refine the framework.
