On November 17, the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science and the Soil Science Society of Nigeria hosted ISRIC – World Soil information senior researcher Gerard Heuvelink as a guest lecturer in their professional development speaker series.

Professor Heuvelink, who also holds the title special professor in pedometrics and digital soil mapping at Wageningen University and Research, spoke to Nigerian soil scientists about his field of work. He was invited to speak by Professor Victor Chude, registrar of the Nigeria Institute of Soil Science and chairman of the African Soil Partnership.

“Professor Heuvelink dealt extensively on recent advances in pedometrics and global soil mapping and there is no doubt that the lecture educates, informs and keep members abreast of current global trends in soil science,” said Professor Chude.

Following this guest lecture the Nigerian Institute of Soil Science and ISRIC – World Soil Information are exploring further areas of collaboration in projects and knowledge exchange.

The recording of this guest lecture is available to view on the ISRIC – World Soil Information YouTube channel.
