ISRIC – World Soil Information celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016! The past 50 years ISRIC has evolved from the International Soil Museum to a soil reference and information centre accredited as World Data Centre for Soils (WDC-Soils) by the International Council for Science (ICSU). Since 1966 ISRIC has served the international community with information about the world’s soil resources to support science and education, and to help addressing major global issues.

The ISRIC Soil Quiz has been running all of 2015, the International Year of Soils, and the winners of the three prizes have today been selected. The quiz consisted of 4 challenging questions, with the answers being ‘hidden’ along the walls and in the corners of the ISRIC World Soil Museum:

ISRIC has now launched a new type of freely accessible soil property maps for Africa. The maps contain predictions of seven soil properties at six standard depths at 1 km resolution
