On 15 July, the ISRIC World Soil Museum will host painting workshops for children and adults.

The workshops are organised by ISRIC, a partner in the CURIOSOIL project. The project, co-funded by the European Union and led by the University of Aveiro (Portugal), aims to deepen public comprehension of soil dynamics, establishing a connection between individuals and soil using hands-on experiences.

Adult painting workshop: Still life with soil pigment tempera at the World Soil Museum

From cave painting to still life, people have been painting with colors from the earth for more than 50,000 years.

This workshop will start with a short introduction to the history of painting with soil pigments. Then, under the guidance of Neelke Jacobs, ISRIC education specialists, and independent artist, you will make an egg tempera from soil pigment. Together with charcoal, you will use this tempera to set up a still life.
