28 July 2026 – Accra, Ghana – Abbe Agricultural Transformation Partners Inc. (AbbeLabs), an African organisation dedicated to agricultural transformation, and the International Soil Reference and Information Centre (ISRIC), the global reference center for soil information, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing the foundation for a long-term partnership on soil information and related applications such as soil fertility advice and land degradation assessment.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Oumou M. Camara, Founder and CEO of AbbeLabs, and by Rik van den Bosch, Director of ISRIC, for an initial term of three years, renewable by mutual consent of both parties.
This strategic partnership marks an important milestone in the shared vision of both organisations: to promote more productive, resilient, and sustainable agricultural systems based on quality-assessed soil information.
As part of this agreement, AbbeLabs and ISRIC will collaborate on:
Jointly identifying and developing programs on soil health and mobilising resources for their implementation.
Providing technical support for the development of soil information systems and data governance, in line with international standards.
Co-developing decision-support systems tailored to local soil fertility contexts.
Promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices.
Offering training, knowledge-exchange, and institutional strengthening opportunities in soil science, soil data management, and digital soil mapping.
Fostering scientific exchange on findings, theories, and methodologies related to soil information systems.
