Find ISRIC at the 2023 Wageningen Soil Conference

Next week, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and ISRIC – World Soil Information are hosting the 2023 Wageningen Soil Conference. From Monday, August 28 – Friday, September 1, the conference takes place on WUR campus and is grouped around four topics: Soil for Society, Advances in Measuring and Modelling Soil Processes, Mapping and Evaluating Soil Functions across Scales, and Soil for Nature-Based Solutions.

  • 10:00 - Development and testing of site-specific fertiliser formulations for crops in sub-Saharan Africa, Johan Leenaars et al
  • 10:45 - Interpreting and evaluating digital soil mapping prediction uncertainty: a case study using texture from SoilGrids, Gerard Heuvelink et al
  • 12:00 Poster session
    • Evaluation of soil properties maps produced with Convolutional Neural Networks and Random Forest: pointwise and contextual pattern analysis, Giulio Genova et al
    • Contribution of different error sources on the prediction accuracy of spectral models, Cynthia van Leeuwen et al
  • 13.30 Masterclasses
    • Accessing WoSIS soil data using the GraphQL API, Luis Calisto, Niels Batjes, Luis de Sousa
    • New soil bulk density sensor in comparison with conventional measurement techniques, Gera Van Os, K. Pepers, G. Staats, Fenny van Egmond, R. Koomans

Are you attending the conference and you would also like to visit the ISRIC World Soil Museum next week? There are special opening hours for conference attendees. In addition to the regular Wednesday afternoon public hours, conference attendees can drop in on the museum on Tuesday or Thursday from 12:00-13.30 or sign up for a tour (limited capacity) on Friday, Sept 1 at 13.30.
