Where are these soils found?

Soil survey data are sketchy for most parts of the world but
aggregation of the most recent estimates suggests a total of 24
million hectares worldwide where acid sulphate soils and
potential acid sulphate soils are a dominant feature of the landscape.
Probably there is at least as much again buried beneath peat and non-sulphidic alluvium but which might be exposed by deep drainage or excavations.
