Short description:

This course introduces the statistical software R. Participants learn to create and process vectors, matrices and data frames, to work with R objects and classes, to fit simple linear regression models, to import and export data, and to generate R graphics.

The course alternates between lectures and hands-on computer exercises. The course includes two 45-minute lectures. The first is on some R basics such as the R and RStudio environment, setting up an R session, data types, data structures,  selections, functions and plotting. The second lecture deals with working with spatial data in R, with focus on the sp package. For the computer exercises it makes use of the material from the book 'Using R for Digital Soil Mapping' by Malone et al.
