ISRIC 50 year celebration

ISRIC – World Soil Information celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016! The past 50 years ISRIC has evolved from the International Soil Museum to a soil reference and information centre accredited as World Data Centre for Soils (WDC-Soils) by the International Council for Science (ICSU). Since 1966 ISRIC has served the international community with information about the world’s soil resources to support science and education, and to help addressing major global issues.

ISRIC – World Soil Information will celebrate its anniversary with a series of events throughout the year. These will highlight its history, through development of an interactive timeline where we will ask you to highlight important moments in the history of the institute. We will also focus on the future, as ISRIC continues to address the changing needs in soil education, information and standards; for this, a scientific event will be organized (to be announced later). We will celebrate with our partners in May on the last day of the ISRIC Spring School.
