Richard Webster Medal 2014 for Gerard Heuvelink


ISRIC senior researcher Gerard Heuvelink, who also also holds a position of Associate Professor in Geostatistics with the Soil Geography and Landscape chairgroup of Wageningen University, has been awarded the prestigious 'Webster Medal' of the Pedometrics Commission of the International Union of Soil Sciences. 

Gerard received this award for his innovative research in pedometrics (the application of mathematical and statistical methods to study the spatial distribution and origin of soils ) with highly-cited publications. In addition to this, the expert jury specifically mentioned that Gerard leads ISRIC 's largest research project, AfSIS (Africa Soil Information Services) since 2012, co-ordinates four other ongoing projects, and has sucessfully completed 13 research projects; the full laudatio may be found on the Pedometrics website.
