Global Soil Week Berlin

The Global Soil Forum organizes the first Global Soil Week (GSW) in 2012 in Berlin.

The Global Soil Week (GSW) offers a forum for interactive exchange and dialogue. Stakeholders from science, government, business and civil society are encouraged to share their land and soil related experience and expertise, and to develop plans of action for sustainable land/soil management and governance.

ISRIC World Soil Information Director Prem Bindraban together with Prof. Scholten (Tübingen, German Soil Science Society) will convene the session on "Soil information for environmental and societal sustainability" .

Dr. Deborah Bossio, Director Soils Research from CIAT will give a keynote on soil information "Why we need soils information", followed by presentation by  Dr. Hannes I. Reuter about ISRIC World Soil Information and its Global Soil Information Facilities(GSIF). Discussion and Reflection will follow in the remainder of the session.

ISRIC World Soil Information will also be available with a stand displaying examples out of our soil monolith reference collection, providing different materials and showcase different functionalities of the GSIF.
