AbstractNaHCO3 method correspond well with crop performance. Moreover, it is insufficient to postulate man-made effects on soil forming processes by establishing the presence of a fimic epipedon alone, as heavy applications of P fertilizers may give short-term high values of extractable phosphorus. Therefore, a subsurface “agric horizon” showing P accumulation, combined with a fimic epipedon is proposed to define Fimus Soils and the corresponding Hortic Anthrosols of the draft World Reference Base for Soil Resources (FAO-ISRIC-ISSS).
