Soil Degradation Assessment in Central and Eastern Europe

In the framework of the project on "Mapping of Soil and Terrain Vulnerability in Central and Eastern Europe" (SOVEUR),  the status of soil degradation was assessed. A slightly modified GLASOD methodology was used for this assessment, with special focus on diffuse pollution.

The databases and technical documentation have been released in FAO's Land and Water Digital Media Series. The CD-ROM contains information in the form of databases, maps and reports on soil types, on the soil degradation status and gives a soil vulnerability assessment for eleven metals in thirteen countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
