Ir Sjef Kauffman – Deputy Director

Sjef has extensive experience in soil survey, land evaluation and land use planning in East Africa, and special expertise in crop simulation modelling, integrated soil and water management, and project evaluation. He joined ISRIC in 1984. He led the ISRIC program for national soil reference collections and databases, working in Africa, Latin America and China. Currently, he is leading our Green Water initiative.

Sjef speaks English, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German.
